Sarah E. Fox

Sarah Fox is an Assistant Professor at the Human-Computer Interaction Institute of Carnegie Mellon University and the head of the Tech Solidarity Lab. Her research primarily examines the impact of artificial intelligence and automation on critical work domains, with a focus on developing technological systems centered on worker needs and expertise. Her work explores how technologies challenge or promote issues of social exclusion and has received multiple awards at top computing conferences such as ACM CSCW, CHI, and DIS. Additionally, her research has been published in leading academic journals such as Design Issues, Journal of Peer Production, and New Media and Society, and featured in media outlets including Politico, Wired, and the Associated Press. Sarah holds a PhD in Human Centered Design & Engineering from the University of Washington. Her research has been supported by the National Science Foundation, the Department of Transportation, and the Russell Sage Foundation.
