Nicola Dell

Nicola Dell is an associate professor of information science at Cornell Tech, the Jacobs Technion-Cornell Institute, and Cornell University’s Ann S. Bowers College of Computing and Information Science. She investigates, builds, and deploys sociotechnical systems intended to make technology-mediated life safer and more equitable, particularly for underserved or at-risk communities. Her research is primarily in human-computer interaction, computer security and privacy, and information and communication technologies for development.[1][2]

At Cornell, she co-founded and co-directs the Clinic to End Tech Abuse (CETA), which works with survivors and service providers addressing technology-facilitated intimate partner violence. She is also director of technology innovation for the Initiative on Home Care Work in Cornell’s School of Industrial and Labor Relations Center for Applied Research on Work.[1][2][5][6]

Her honors include the 2024 MacArthur Fellowship, the 2023 SIGCHI Societal Impact Award, and the 2018 NSF CAREER Award.[1][2] Cornell’s profile identifies her as a Cornell Tech faculty member since 2016; her CV records 2016–2021 as assistant professor and 2022–present as associate professor.[2][3]

Her personal website states that she will join New York University (NYU) Computer Science faculty in January 2027; as of this review date, her current appointment remains at Cornell Tech.[2] A September 2026 NYU Tandon report likewise describes her as an incoming professor at NYU Tandon and NYU Courant.[4]
