Daniela K. Rosner

Daniela Rosner is a professor in the Department of Human Centered Design & Engineering (HCDE) at the University of Washington. Her research focuses on the social, political, and material settings of technological development, with particular attention to marginalized histories in practice, from maintenance to knitting. She has conducted design research at Microsoft Research, Adobe Systems, and Nokia Research, and worked as an exhibition designer for several museums, including the Adler Planetarium and Astronomy Museum. Rosner's research has received multiple grants from the National Science Foundation (NSF), including the NSF CAREER award. She is the author of Critical Fabulations, a book that explores new ways of thinking about design history to reimagine the relationship between technology and social responsibility. Her work has also been published in numerous academic journals and conferences on craft and technological cultures.
