Nadya Peek

Nadya Peek is an Associate Professor in the Department of Human Centered Design & Engineering (HCDE) at the University of Washington, and the leader of the Machine Agency lab. Her research focuses on nontraditional digital fabrication tools, small-scale automation, networked control systems, and advanced manufacturing technologies. Her work spans electronics, firmware, software, and mechanical systems, aiming to leverage the precision of machines to inspire personal creativity. Prior to joining the University of Washington, she was a postdoctoral researcher at the Center for Bits and Atoms at MIT. Currently, she also serves as Vice President of the Open Source Hardware Association, contributes to creative work as part of the “James and the Giant Peek” design studio, and performs as a member of the band “Construction.”
