Stephanie Valencia

Stephanie Valencia is a researcher specializing in human-computer interaction and assistive technology. She currently serves as an assistant professor at the University of Maryland's College of Information Studies. Her research focuses on augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) technologies, leveraging artificial intelligence and expressive object design to enhance users' conversational abilities and interaction experiences. A PhD graduate from Carnegie Mellon University’s Human-Computer Interaction Institute, she is committed to advancing equitable access to assistive technology, advocating for open-source hardware, and promoting diversity and inclusion in technology design.
