Xuhai Xu

Xuhai (Orson) Xu is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biomedical Informatics at Columbia University and a Visiting Scholar at Google Health. His research focuses on Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Applied Machine Learning, and Health Prediction, aiming to develop behavioral modeling algorithms based on everyday sensor data and health records to monitor various health and well-being conditions. He also designs and implements intelligent intervention and interaction technologies to help users achieve personal health goals and support clinical decision-making for medical professionals. Xuhai has made significant achievements in academia, receiving numerous Best Paper Awards, Distinguished Paper Awards, and Best Tool Awards. His doctoral dissertation earned the 2023 Distinguished Dissertation Award at the University of Washington, and its technological innovation was recognized with the 2024 Western Association of Graduate Schools Innovation in Technology Award.
