Quan Li

Dr. Quan Li is a Tenured Associate Professor (promoted from Assistant Professor in March 2026) at the School of Information Science and Technology, ShanghaiTech University, and a Co-Director of the Visualization and Data Intelligence Center (VDI). He completed his PhD in 2019 in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, advised by Xiaojuan Ma and Huamin Qu, where he received the PhD Fellowship and a Top RPG (Research Postgraduate) honor. Before his PhD, he worked as a Senior Researcher in the Online Game Division at NetEase Games. Dr. Li's research interests include Big Data Visualization, Visual Analytics, Explainable Artificial Intelligence (XAI), Data Science, Data Narratives, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), and Computational Social Science, applied to areas such as financial risk control, smart retail, smart cities, social networks, and online gaming.
