Hee Rin Lee

Dr. Hee Rin Lee is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Media and Information at Michigan State University, specializing in research in the field of Human-Robot Interaction (HRI). Her research not only focuses on the efficiency and functionality of robotics but also aims to design and assess robots that promote social well-being, with the goal of empowering marginalized groups, including populations from low socioeconomic backgrounds and older adults. Her work seeks to drive positive societal change by enhancing the autonomy of underserved communities through robot design. Dr. Lee's research has received multiple Best Paper nominations at top conferences, including HRI, UbiComp, CSCW, and CHI. Additionally, she has served as a technical committee member for ACM/IEEE HRI and ACM Participatory Design conferences. Dr. Lee earned a Ph.D. in Informatics and Computing from Indiana University and a master’s degree in Digital Media from Georgia Institute of Technology. She was also a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of California, San Diego.
