Gregory D. Abowd

Gregory Dominic Abowd is an internationally renowned computer scientist currently serving as Dean of the College of Engineering and Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Northeastern University. He has made pioneering contributions in the fields of Ubiquitous Computing and Human-Computer Interaction, particularly in education, health systems, and autism technological support. He graduated from the University of Notre Dame and earned his Master’s and Ph.D. in Computing at the University of Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar. Previously, he worked for 26 years at the Georgia Institute of Technology as the J.Z. Liang Chair Professor in the School of Interactive Computing, where he founded significant research initiatives such as “Classroom 2000” and “Aware Home.” He is an ACM Fellow, member of the CHI Academy, and has received numerous accolades including the ACM Eugene L. Lawler Award for Humanitarian Contributions and the SIGCHI Lifetime Research Award.
