Caitlin Lustig

Caitlin Lustig is a PhD candidate in Human Centered Design and Engineering at the University of Washington, as well as a student researcher at Google. Her research focuses on Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Computer-Supported Cooperative Work (CSCW), Science and Technology Studies (STS), and critical studies of algorithms and data. She uses ethnographic methods, interviews, surveys, and participant observation to study the experiences of technology users and developers. Previously, she worked as an intern and research assistant at IBM Research, the AI Now Institute, and Microsoft Research, investigating the application and impacts of algorithmic systems in areas such as human resources, health, and behavioral health. She holds a master's degree in Informatics from the University of California, Irvine, and a bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Washington.
