Abigail C Durrant

Abigail Durrant is a Professor of Interaction Design at Newcastle University, where she also serves as Co-Director of Open Lab and the EPSRC Digital Economy Research Centre. Her focus lies in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), designing methodologies to address challenges surrounding the role of digital technologies and data in health, well-being, and the management of personal identity. She leads several interdisciplinary research projects, including the EPSRC-funded "NortHFutures Digital Health Hub," which tackles digital exclusion through community-centered innovation. Durrant's research spans topics ranging from health data sharing and children's creative play to cultural heritage and human rights media, employing collaborative co-creation and research-through-design approaches.
