Daniel Wigdor

Daniel Wigdor is a Canadian computer scientist, entrepreneur, scholar, and author specializing in the field of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI). He is currently a Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Toronto, where he serves as Associate Chair of Industrial Relations, and a Research Science Director at Meta’s Reality Labs Research Toronto. He is renowned for his work on natural user interfaces (NUI), touch and gesture technology, and artificial intelligence systems in HCI. He is also the co-founder of several companies including Iota Wireless, Tactual Labs, and Chatham Labs (later acquired by Meta). Holding more than 60 patents, he is the author of Brave NUI World: Designing Natural User Interfaces for Touch and Gesture and has won multiple ACM Best Paper awards as well as the Sloan Research Fellowship in 2015.
