Jeffrey Bardzell

Jeffrey Bardzell is a professor and dean of the School of Information and Library Science at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he also serves as Associate Provost for Artificial Intelligence and Chief Artificial Intelligence Officer. His research areas include human-computer interaction design, critical design, and the intersection of humanities and technology. He previously served as a professor at Indiana University Bloomington, where he directed the human-computer interaction design program in the School of Informatics. Over the course of his academic career, Bardzell has published more than 100 peer-reviewed scholarly papers and secured over $13 million in research funding. His research emphasizes creativity and critical thinking in design, participatory design, and design frameworks that go beyond human-centered perspectives. His work has significantly influenced the field, particularly in critical design and the study of aesthetics in interaction.
