Sidney Fels

Sidney Fels is a professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of British Columbia and leads the Human Communication Technologies Laboratory. He is internationally recognized for his research in biomechanical modeling, human-computer interaction, neural networks, innovative musical expression interfaces, and interactive art. Professor Fels holds a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering degree from the University of Waterloo and a Master's and PhD in Computer Science from the University of Toronto. He previously served as the Director of UBC’s Media and Graphics Interdisciplinary Centre (MAGIC) and was awarded the UBC Distinguished University Scholar title in 2004 for his outstanding academic contributions. His research also extends to medical modeling applications and computer vision, making a significant impact in academia and engineering.
