Netta Iivari

Netta Iivari is a Professor of Information Systems at the University of Oulu and leads the INTERACT research group. She holds a master's degree in cultural anthropology (2001) and a master's degree in information processing science (2003), and earned her Ph.D. in information systems in 2006. Professor Iivari's research focuses on empowering individuals through digital engagement via technology design and creation, with particular emphasis on children's roles in shaping the digital future. Her work is highly influenced by interpretive and critical research traditions, prioritizing interdisciplinary collaboration alongside cultural and discourse analysis. She is also actively involved in addressing children's technology education and bullying prevention through STEAM education and participatory design approaches.
