Stevie Chancellor

Stevie Chancellor is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Minnesota and a Senior Visiting Researcher at Google Research. Her work focuses on building and critically evaluating human-centered AI for high-risk health behaviors in online communities. She uses machine learning techniques to analyze social media data to identify and intervene in dangerous behaviors such as eating disorders, opioid use disorder, and suicidal ideation. Professor Chancellor is particularly dedicated to ethical issues in AI applications in mental health, striving to promote more responsible and compassionate research and practices. She holds a PhD in Human-Centered Computing from the Georgia Institute of Technology and is an integral member of the GroupLens Research Lab.
