Milagros Miceli

Milagros Miceli is an Argentinian-born sociologist and computer scientist, renowned for her research on the ethics and societal impacts of Artificial Intelligence (AI). Her work focuses on exploring labor conditions and social implications during processes of data annotation and generation, with a particular emphasis on the roles and rights of data workers. Miceli earned her PhD in Computer Science from the Technical University of Berlin and is currently based in Berlin, Germany, where she works at the Weizenbaum-Institut and the Distributed AI Research Institute (DAIR). She founded the Data Workers' Inquiry project, aimed at promoting visibility and agency for data workers in AI research through participatory studies. With a focus on critical perspectives and social justice, her work was recognized by TIME magazine, which named her among the 100 most influential figures in AI globally for 2025.
