Naveena Karusala

Naveena Karusala is an assistant professor in the School of Interactive Computing at Georgia Tech. Her research focuses on centering caregiving work in the design of AI technologies to support sustainable futures for work, particularly in healthcare and social services. Her work highlights the use of qualitative methods and participatory design to create systems while leveraging critical theory to examine systems of domination such as class, caste, gender, and race, prioritizing the knowledge of marginalized groups. Naveena holds a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Washington and a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science from Georgia Tech. Additionally, she has served as a postdoctoral fellow at the Harvard Center for Research on Computation and Society and as the Vice Chair for Communications on the ACM SIGCHI Executive Committee, where she worked to connect and support the human-computer interaction research community.
