Azra Ismail

Azra Ismail is an Assistant Professor of Biomedical Informatics and Global Health at Emory University, Co-Director of the Center for Artificial Intelligence in Reproductive Health (CAIRE), and a member of the World Health Organization Regional Office for Europe Advisory Group on Artificial Intelligence in Health Technologies. She specializes in the human-centered design and evaluation of artificial intelligence in healthcare, with a focus on reproductive health. Her research aims to bridge the gap between AI research and practical implementation, ensuring that developed systems are tailored to complex healthcare settings and serve diverse populations, including caregivers. She is the Co-Founder of MakerGhat, a nonprofit organization providing innovation learning spaces for underserved youth in India. Azra was named to the Forbes Asia 30 Under 30 List and recognized as one of 100 Brilliant Women in AI Ethics and one of 75 Women in STEAM by the Government of India.
