Riku Arakawa

Riku Arakawa is a researcher specializing in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) and Human-AI Interaction (HAI). He is currently a Ph.D. student at Carnegie Mellon University's School of Computer Science, within the Human-Computer Interaction Institute (HCII), and is a member of the Smash Lab led by Dr. Mayank Goel. His research focuses on multimodal sensing technologies and human-AI interaction, with the goal of designing intelligent systems that can be reliably applied in critical domains such as healthcare. His work has been published at top-tier HCI conferences (e.g., ACM CHI, UIST, IMWUT) and has received multiple Best Paper Awards and Honorable Mentions. Additionally, he is a recipient of prestigious fellowships such as the Funai Fellowship, Masason Fellowship, and Snap Research Fellowship. He has been recognized on the Forbes Asia 30 Under 30 and MIT Technology Review Innovators Under 35 Japan lists.
