Masataka Goto

Masataka Goto is a Chief Senior Researcher at the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) in Japan and a leading figure and pioneer in the field of music information retrieval worldwide. Since 1992, he has been engaged in researching automatic music understanding technologies and has made groundbreaking contributions in music signal analysis, singing voice synthesis, music interfaces, and music recommendation systems. He has led the development of several widely recognized systems, such as the music understanding service "Songle," the music browsing assistance service "Songrium," and the singing voice synthesis system "VocaListener." For his outstanding academic achievements, he has received 77 major awards, including the Japan Academy Prize and the JSPS PRIZE. Actively involved in promoting cutting-edge research projects at organizations like the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST), he also serves on the faculty of Tsukuba University and Waseda University, profoundly influencing both academia and industry.
