Mingming Fan

Dr. Mingming Fan is a tenured Associate Professor in the Computational Media and Arts Thrust and Internet of Things Thrust at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou) [HKUST(GZ)] and an affiliate Associate Professor in the Division of Integrative Systems and Design at HKUST. He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Toronto and is an expert in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Accessibility Computing, Virtual/Augmented Reality (VR/AR), and Human-AI Interaction. He leads the "Augmenting People via Empowering X (APEX)" research group, focusing on designing and applying innovative human-computer interaction systems, VR/AR interaction systems, and accessibility technologies to tackle challenges in learning, education, aging, and accessibility in the AI era. Dr. Fan has published over 80 papers in top-tier HCI journals and conferences, receiving multiple awards for Best Papers and Honorable Mentions. He is a recipient of the SIGCHI China "Young Pioneers Award" and the Chinese Computer Federation HCI Committee "Young Scientist Award."
