Carman Neustaedter

Dr. Carman Neustaedter is Dean of Simon Fraser University's Faculty of Communication, Art and Technology and Professor in the School of Interactive Arts and Technology. He is also Director of the Connections Lab (cLab). His research spans human-computer interaction, interaction design, and computer-supported collaboration, with a focus on social culture, user behavior, group collaboration, and ubiquitous and mobile technology design. His research areas include domestic computing, video conferencing and telepresence, smart technologies and the Internet of Things, pervasive games, and Next Generation 9-1-1 and emergency response. He co-authored Connecting Families: The Impact of New Communication Technologies on Domestic Life and Studying and Designing Technology for Domestic Life: Lessons from Home. cLab studies technologies for communication and collaboration among families, co-workers, and community members across distance.
