Parmit K. Chilana

Parmit Chilana is an Associate Professor in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) at Simon Fraser University's School of Computing Science and holds the Ebco-Eppich Research Chair. Her research focuses on the development and application of user-centered software help and learning technologies, aiming to enhance user experiences through the design and deployment of innovative solutions. Her work spans multiple domains, including 3D modeling, education, healthcare, and software development, with a goal to assist users of diverse backgrounds and skill levels in better utilizing, learning, and programming new technologies. Professor Chilana’s research achievements have been recognized with several awards, including the 2022 CS-CAN Outstanding Young Computer Science Researcher Award and the NSERC Discovery Accelerator Award. She holds a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Washington and previously served as an Assistant Professor at the University of Waterloo.
