Aaron Steinfeld

Aaron Steinfeld is a Research Professor at Carnegie Mellon University's Robotics Institute, with an honorary appointment at the Human-Computer Interaction Institute. His work focuses on advancing human-computer interaction and intelligent transportation, particularly on how to achieve effective and appropriate interaction in systems constrained by design, task demands, environment, and user capabilities. His research spans robotics, intelligent transportation systems, rehabilitation engineering, human factors engineering, universal design, and research methodologies. He leads the "Transportation, Robotics, and Disabilities Laboratory," aiming to enhance mobility, productivity, and quality of life through advanced technologies. He has contributed to cutting-edge projects involving autonomous vehicles, assistive robots, social robot navigation, and user trust modeling, publishing over a hundred academic papers and serving as principal investigator on several research initiatives.
