Qian Yang

Qian Yang is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Information Science at Cornell University and a Senior Fellow at the Cornell Center for Health Equity. She focuses on translating cutting-edge AI technologies into software applications with real value for users, organizations, and society. Her research investigates the theoretical and practical aspects of designing AI as a design material, with applications ranging from clinical decision support systems to responsible AI guidelines. Her work has significantly influenced industry practices at companies like Google and Microsoft. She has received the Schmidt Futures "AI2050" Early Career Fellowship and won multiple academic and industry awards for designing clinical decision support systems in areas such as artificial heart implant patient selection and cancer pathology diagnosis.
