Franziska Roesner

Franziska Roesner is a professor at the Paul G. Allen School of Computer Science & Engineering at the University of Washington, also holding affiliate appointments in the Information School, the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering, and the Department of Human Centered Design & Engineering. Her research focuses on computer security and privacy, particularly the security and privacy challenges faced by end users of existing and emerging technologies. She co-directs the Security and Privacy Research Lab and is actively involved in several research centers and academic committees, including the Steering Committees for the USENIX Security and Enigma conferences. She has been recognized with numerous awards, including the 2017 NSF CAREER Award and MIT Technology Review's Innovators Under 35 Award. Her research areas include security and privacy in augmented reality, security needs for marginalized populations, and privacy and security in online advertising ecosystems.
