Christopher A. Brooks

Christopher Brooks is an Associate Professor at the University of Michigan School of Information and an applied computer scientist. He specializes in developing and researching the effectiveness of educational technology in higher education and informal learning environments, with a particular focus on data science education. His research areas include predictive modeling, learning analytics, collaborative learning, and information visualization. He has published extensively in the fields of educational technology and human-computer interaction and has received multiple Best Paper Awards with collaborators (e.g., LAK, AIED, CHI, CSCW). As the director of the Educational Technology Collective (ETC) at the University of Michigan, he leads a team dedicated to improving teaching and learning experiences. In addition, he teaches applied data science courses at undergraduate, graduate levels, and on the Coursera open course platform. Starting August 2025, he will serve as the Academic Director for the University of Michigan School of Information's Master of Applied Data Science (MADS) online program.
