Tawanna R. Dillahunt

Tawanna R. Dillahunt is a Professor, Associate Dean for Special Initiatives, and Area Head for Human-Computer Interaction in Vanderbilt University’s College of Connected Computing. She was previously a Professor in the University of Michigan School of Information and served as its Master of Science in Information program director from 2024–2026. Her research focuses on human-computer interaction, human-centered AI, and community-centered sociotechnical systems, examining how computing can expand employment, entrepreneurship, digital literacy, and economic opportunity for communities historically underserved by technology. She leads the Social Innovations Group, whose community-engaged work addresses practical needs including transportation, employment, healthy food access, telehealth, and remote work. Her honors include the 2022–2023 William Bentinck-Smith Fellowship at Harvard Radcliffe Institute and the 2023–2024 MIT Martin Luther King Visiting Professorship.
