Suranga Nanayakkara

Suranga Nanayakkara is an Associate Professor in the Department of Information Systems & Analytics at the National University of Singapore and an Honorary Professor at the Auckland Bioengineering Institute, University of Auckland. His research focuses on "Augmented Human Lab," designing assistive human-machine interfaces that naturally extend human body, mind, and behavior. He was a Postdoctoral Researcher with the Fluid Interfaces Group at MIT Media Lab and established the “Augmented Human Lab” in 2011. Suranga’s work emphasizes using technology to assist individuals with sensory impairments (e.g., hearing or vision disabilities), while also highlighting its broader applicability. His research has been applied across diverse fields and has earned international recognition, including the MIT Technology Review’s TR35 Asia Pacific Young Inventor Award and the Ten Outstanding Young Persons (TOYP) Award in Sri Lanka.
