Angelika Strohmayer

Angelika Strohmayer is an Associate Professor in Northumbria University's School of Design, Arts and Creative Industries. She is a challenge-led researcher who works with frontline practitioners, policymakers, activists, people with lived experience, and researchers across disciplines to reduce the vulnerabilisation of women facing multiple disadvantage and others in difficult life situations. Her work co-designs support services and interventions through creative participatory practice, craft, and making, while centring lived and frontline experience in re-imagining systems of care.

She is founder and co-leader of the Design Feminisms Research Group and co-founder and co-lead of the Gendered Violence and Abuse Interdisciplinary Research Theme. Her work sits at the intersections of feminist theory and practice, with a focus on methodology, ethics, and making research more collaborative, interdisciplinary, and challenge-driven.
