Kotaro Hara

Kotaro Hara is an Assistant Professor at the School of Computing and Information Systems, Singapore Management University (SMU), and a member of the SMU Human-Computer Interaction Research Group. His research focuses on Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) and Accessibility, aiming to design, develop, and deploy interactive tools powered by cutting-edge technologies to support people with disabilities. He employs user-centered methodologies to create solutions that enhance independence, improve quality of life, and foster diversity and inclusion. Prior to joining SMU, he worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at Carnegie Mellon University's Robotics Institute and Human-Computer Interaction Institute, and earned his PhD from the University of Maryland, College Park, under the guidance of Professor Jon Froehlich.
