Pourang Irani

Pourang Irani is a professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of British Columbia, Okanagan, and holds the Ubiquitous Analytics Research Chair. He specializes in the fields of Human-Computer Interaction and Information Visualization. His research aims to design and explore innovative interactive systems for "anytime, anywhere" information analysis. His team leverages mixed reality and wearable technology to develop cutting-edge visual interfaces and interactive devices. Additionally, Professor Irani leads the NSERC CREATE program—VADA (Visual and Automated Disease Analytics)—which focuses on training the next generation of data scientists specializing in health data analysis. His research achievements include designing visual analytics tools to enhance users’ data interpretation and decision-making capabilities, as well as collaborating with various institutions to ensure the safe and ethical application of AI technologies.
