Tapan Parikh

Tapan Parikh is an Associate Professor in the Department of Information Science at Cornell Tech, affiliated with Cornell University's Ann S. Bowers College of Computing and Information Science. His research interests include human-computer interaction and the design and application of information technology in education, social governance, and international development. His students have founded multiple tech companies based on their research outcomes. Parikh holds a bachelor's degree in Molecular Modeling from Brown University and earned his master's and doctoral degrees in Computer Science from the University of Washington, where his doctoral dissertation received the William Chan Memorial Award. He is a recipient of the NSF CAREER Award, a Sloan Research Fellowship, and was named Humanitarian of the Year by Technology Review. He is also actively involved in the Digital Life Initiative and the XR Collaboratory, focusing on the societal impacts of digital technologies as well as augmented and virtual reality.
