Melissa Densmore

Dr. Melissa Densmore is an Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Cape Town, where she also serves as the Director of the Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) Lab and as ICT4D Coordinator for the Hasso-Plattner Research School. Her research focuses on digital maternal and child health, community wireless networks, and human-computer interaction, with a particular emphasis on leveraging technology to support healthcare and education development in low-resource and low-literacy communities. Dr. Densmore's research has been cited over 3,000 times, and she was awarded a $500,000 NAKFI Challenge grant to develop the "Digital Street Theatre" project, which uses localized digital platforms to enhance health education.
