Azumi Maekawa

Azumi Maekawa is a project lecturer at the Research Center for Advanced Science and Technology, the University of Tokyo, specializing in the design of human-machine collaboration systems. He earned his Ph.D. in Engineering from the University of Tokyo in 2021, with research spanning robotics, cognitive psychology, computer science, and human-computer interaction. His work explores the boundaries between biological organisms and artificial creations, aiming to discover novel forms of human-machine collaboration. In 2024, he founded Hot Space Inc., an experimental space combining research, production, and exhibition. His works have been showcased at numerous international exhibitions and conferences, including the Ars Electronica Festival, ACM SIGGRAPH, and IEEE IROS. He has received several awards, including the ACM CHI Honorable Mention Award (top 5%) and the New Face Award in the Entertainment Division at the 23rd Japan Media Arts Festival.
