Steve Hodges

Steve Hodges is an internationally acclaimed researcher in the fields of physical computing and ubiquitous computing. He currently serves as a Distinguished Professor at Lancaster University's School of Computing and Communications. After nearly 20 years of working at Microsoft Research, he transitioned to academia to focus on mentoring the next generation of computer scientists and advancing research in physical computing, assistive device development, and hardware prototyping. He is a core architect of the BBC micro:bit project, which has empowered over 44 million children worldwide to learn programming. Additionally, he led the creation of the SenseCam wearable camera, a technology widely applied in education, healthcare, and memory augmentation, earning numerous awards and recognition.
