Nicolai Marquardt (also using Nic Marquardt) is a Principal Researcher at Microsoft Research in the Extended Perception, Interaction & Cognition (EPIC) and Future Experiences/Human-Computer & Artificial Intelligence Experiences groups. He was previously Professor of Interaction Design and Innovation at the UCL Interaction Centre and continues as an Honorary Professor in UCL’s Department of Computer Science. His research examines generative AI and human-computer interaction, collaborative technology, multi-device computing, sensor-driven interaction tuned to spatial and social context, and hardware and prototyping platforms for everyday environments. Marquardt co-authored Sketching User Experiences: The Workbook with Saul Greenberg, Sheelagh Carpendale, and Bill Buxton (Morgan Kaufmann, 2011), and co-authored Proxemic Interactions (Morgan & Claypool, 2015).
