Mohammad Rashidujjaman Rifat

Mohammad Rashidujjaman Rifat is an Assistant Professor of Technology Ethics and Global Affairs at the Keough School of Global Affairs, University of Notre Dame, and also holds an appointment in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering. His research spans human-computer interaction (HCI), AI ethics, and critical social sciences, with a focus on designing socio-technical systems that encompass diverse ethical, cultural, and religious perspectives. His approach combines computational techniques—such as machine learning and natural language processing—with qualitative methods, such as ethnography and interviews, to address social challenges arising from value conflicts in multicultural societies. Rifat’s work has been published in top academic conferences such as CHI, CSCW, FAccT, ICTD, and has received multiple awards. Originally from Bangladesh, he is fluent in Bengali and English and enjoys reading, traveling, gardening, and cooking.
