Sean A. Munson

Sean A. Munson is a professor in the Department of Human Centered Design & Engineering (HCDE) at the University of Washington, as well as an adjunct faculty member in the Paul G. Allen School of Computer Science & Engineering. His research focuses on challenges related to health, well-being, and diverse information exposure, designing and evaluating technologies that help people understand data about themselves and the world around them. He also serves as the associate chair of HCDE for faculty and research advancement and co-leads the UW ALACRITY Center, which works on redesigning and deploying mental health interventions. His work has been recognized with an NSF Early Career Award and multiple teaching awards from the UW College of Engineering.

Munson earned his PhD in 2012 from the University of Michigan School of Information, where his work concentrated on designing software to support positive behavior change. Before that, he graduated in 2006 from Olin College of Engineering with a bachelor's degree in Systems Design Engineering.
