John M. Carroll

John M. Carroll is an internationally renowned expert in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) and is currently a Distinguished Professor of Information Sciences and Technology at Pennsylvania State University. He serves as the director of the Center for Human-Computer Interaction at the university and is a co-director of the Collaboration and Innovation Laboratory. His research encompasses several areas, including scenario-based design, community innovation, health informatics, and minimalist information design. He has previously worked as a scientist at IBM Thomas J. Watson Research Center and as a professor of computer science at Virginia Tech. He has received numerous lifetime achievement awards, including the ACM SIGCHI Lifetime Achievement Award and the IEEE HCI Pioneer Award. His contributions have significantly impacted the development of the field of HCI.
