Arvind Satyanarayan

Arvind Satyanarayan is an Associate Professor in the Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL) at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and the head of the MIT Visualization Group. His research focuses on data visualization and human-computer interaction, striving to enhance human cognition and creativity through interactive visualization technologies while maintaining user agency. His work has been widely recognized in academia and industry, including the NSF CAREER Award, multiple Best Paper Awards at academic conferences, and honors from industry. The systems he has pioneered are widely used in industry, Wikipedia, and the Jupyter/Python data science ecosystem. His research areas include visualization programming languages, sociotechnical impacts, machine learning model interpretability, and designing accessible tools for individuals who are blind or visually impaired.
