Matthew Butler

Matthew Butler is an Associate Professor in the Department of Human-Centered Computing at the Faculty of Information Technology, Monash University, with over 20 years of experience in teaching and research. His primary research focus is on inclusive technology, particularly the development of innovative accessible technologies and multisensory experiences for individuals who are blind or have low vision. For example, he enhances accessibility in education, data exploration, arts and culture, and daily life through emerging technologies like 3D printing, electronics, and conversational agents. Additionally, he conducts research in computer science education, leveraging learning analytics and emerging technologies to improve student engagement and learning outcomes. As a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, he has made significant contributions to both education and research and excelled in various educational leadership roles.
