Reuben Binns

Reuben Binns is an interdisciplinary researcher and Associate Professor of Human-Centred Computing at the Department of Computer Science, University of Oxford, where he also serves as Director of Academic Environment. His areas of expertise span computer science, law, and philosophy, with a focus on data protection, machine learning, and technology regulation. He previously worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Artificial Intelligence at the UK Information Commissioner's Office, studying data protection issues in AI and ML (2018–2020). Since 2015, he has been part of the Department of Computer Science at the University of Oxford and holds a Ph.D. in Web Science from the University of Southampton. His research focuses particularly on the technical, legal, and ethical challenges in privacy protection and decentralized systems.
