Ana Paiva

Ana Maria Severino de Almeida e Paiva is a renowned computer scientist from Portugal and currently serves as Portugal's Secretary of State for Science. She specializes in artificial intelligence and human-computer interaction, particularly in designing intelligent robots capable of interacting with humans. She is a professor at Instituto Superior Técnico and the founder of GAIPS (a laboratory focused on Artificial Intelligence and Social Applications). Her work has received numerous international awards, including the AAAI Blue Sky Awards. Over the years, Ana Paiva has supervised numerous PhD students and published more than 120 academic papers. Her contributions have significantly advanced the social applications of artificial intelligence.
