Amy X. Zhang

Amy X. Zhang is an Associate Professor in the Paul G. Allen School of Computer Science & Engineering at the University of Washington, where she leads the Social Futures Lab. Her research focuses on human-computer interaction, social computing, and human-AI interaction, with an emphasis on designing and building systems to enhance conversation, collaboration, and understanding in social media and online communities. Her work has broad applications across journalism and civic engagement, education and research, as well as computing systems that support collaborative work and collective action. Prior to joining the University of Washington, she completed her PhD at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where she conducted pioneering research on online collaboration and community governance.
