Jessica Hullman

Jessica Hullman is an American computer scientist and the Ginni Rometty Professor of Computer Science at Northwestern University. Her research focuses on information visualization, uncertainty quantification, and human-computer interaction, aiming to improve how people understand and analyze data. Hullman has made significant contributions to the field of uncertainty visualization, introducing innovative visualization methods like hypothetical outcome plots to help laypersons intuitively grasp uncertainty within data. Her research impacts data-driven decision-making and journalism. She is a co-lead of Northwestern University's MU Collective, focusing on uncertainty research, and has provided consultation to the U.S. President's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology. She has also received numerous honors, including the Microsoft Research Faculty Fellowship.
