Huamin Qu

Professor Huamin Qu is a professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST). He also serves as the Dean of the Academy of Interdisciplinary Studies (AIS) and is the founding leader of several interdisciplinary research initiatives. His research interests encompass data visualization, human-computer interaction, urban informatics, social network analysis, e-learning, text visualization, and explainable artificial intelligence (XAI). Professor Qu is a prominent contributor to the global field of data visualization, with over 300 published papers, more than 70 of which have appeared in IEEE TVCG. His work has earned numerous international awards, including the IEEE VGTC Technical Achievement Award and the AI 2000 Most Influential Scholar Award. His research innovations have been widely adopted by companies such as Microsoft, IBM, Huawei, and Tencent, and have supported various national key research projects.
