Multiple subscriptions need one view of dates and amounts

What it is

One account may run membership, extra cloud quota, family seats, and an in-app auto-renew item at once. A unified view puts each subscription’s name, next capture date, amount, method, and cancel on one scannable table. It is not how one title reminds about trial conversion or a raise. It is a place to reconcile when several calendars must be watched together.

Why it happens

Memory load scales with the number of titles. Each buried in a different settings tree, people only discover “three captures this month” when the statement arrives. Dates landing together shock cash flow; split amounts hide which title to cut. The view moves external memory from the mailbox into the product, so compare-and-cancel happens in a plan, not in a fright. It must also mark trialing, cancelled-until-end, paused, or people will treat cancelled as still charging, or a trial as free forever.

Studying it

Hang at least three different-period subscriptions on an account. Compare: scattered in feature settings, an overview table, mail digest only. Watch whether people can state the next total capture and its dates in five minutes.

Independent variables: overview present, sorted by date, cancelled still listed until end. Dependent variables: error on restating next total, missing a title that should be cut, duplicate subscribe.

Where it stops holding

Store-billed titles must deep-link from the in-app overview to store manage; do not fake cancel. Family accounts split payer view from member view; members should not see the payer’s other subscription amounts. Long-ended history can archive so the table stays readable; archive must still open.

Applying it

• An account-level Subscriptions page lists each title: name, state, next capture date and amount, method, manage.
• Default sort by next capture; top shows “will capture this month” for what can be computed.
• Trial and cancelled-until-end get state marks; drill-in is the same cancel/resume set.
• Verify with three test titles: someone new writes each next amount and day from the overview alone. Needing three feature settings to assemble it fails the view.
