Michelle L. Mazurek

Michelle L. Mazurek is an Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Maryland and currently serves as the Director of the Maryland Cybersecurity Center. She is a prominent scholar in the field of human-centered security and privacy, focusing on understanding and influencing users’ security and privacy behaviors. Her research gathers real-world user data to explore ways to make security systems more user-friendly, with particular emphasis on password security, end-to-end encrypted messaging, and simplifying security practices for system administrators and software developers. Professor Mazurek has received the NSF CAREER Award and has published numerous high-impact papers in top security conferences, contributing significantly to the fields of usable security and privacy protection.
